The Brownsville Volunteer Fire Department, founded in 1958, is a fully volunteer, not-for-profit organization located in the northern Black Hills of western South Dakota. The department's mission is to provide services to our community through protection of life, property and valuable resources.

The Brownsville Volunteer Fire Department protects a community of approximately 642 primary structures within our 100 square mile fire district.
